Aloha Friday ~ School Projects

Friday is the day that Hawaiians take it easy and get ready for the weekend. So in that spirit we’re asking a simple question. Head on over to An Island Life for more Aloha Friday fun and to sign Mr. Linky if you’re playing.

Sissy had a book report due today. Besides reading the book she had to pick a project to go along with it. One of the choices was to make up a board game that relates to the story. She got me involved with the tree and tepee making. Which made me think of a question for Aloha Friday

When your child has a report or project due, how much do you “help” them with it?

Do you ever send them to school and say “Gee, I hope I get an A? I mean I hope Sissy gets an A.

Stacy

Last year I got an A on “T”‘s Revolutionary War Game.  Yes, I got it, because he really didn’t do anything. and I did the whole thing.  He even asked me, “so, how do you play this game?“

I have to admit, I am much more hands off about my kids’ assignments. Since I have already left elementary (and now middle) school, I don’t really want to go back. I think my kids are probably disappointed with how little I help out.

I had to chime in on this one. Last week my first grader had to do a project on Spain, complete with a poster board, information written in his handwriting that he’d have to read to the class, a paper doll dressed in traditional attire, and we had to bring in a typical dish from the country.

How much of that do they really expect a FIRST grader to do? He did the handwriting part. The rest…me. Including a Spanish omelet for 25 people. Pluck a duck. It was tasty though, and not specifically because I made it with venom and ire. ;)
