Wednesdays are great for Wordless and Wordful posts, but we decided to go a different route and create our own Wednesday fun. We figured what the hell. That’s how we started What The Hell Wednesday. Who are we kidding? That’s pretty much how we decide on almost everything. If you want to play along, grab our button on the sidebar, link up to us in your post and don’t forget to sign in to the linky below. Really, what the hell?

We knew we would need to buy new tires for my SUV this year. We had been hoping to make it through the summer and buy some in the fall. But our drive to Florida and the flat tire we got at the end of our trip only a couple miles from home made getting new tires a bit more urgent.
My husband shopped around, getting quotes from a lot of different tire stores, and looking online to get reviews of tires. Finally, he decided on Firestone. They were meeting our lowest quote and we would get a $70 rebate to boot. Seemed like a pretty good deal especially since buying 4 tires for the SUV a week after a vacation was a little tough.
Yesterday I got home from work and my husband wasn’t happy. Okay, more unhappy than usual. He said “I got an email from Firestone and they denied my $70 rebate. The reason? I didn’t send in the original receipt. Which is a joke since I did send in the original receipt.” What The Hell Firestone??!!
So, now we don’t have the original receipt because we sent it in as required and now we only have a copy, plus in their email it states “Do not respond to this email” and they don’t supply a phone number because they don’t want to hear from anyone. What The Hell Firestone??!!!
Monday night we were with some friends and they mentioned they were looking for new tires and my husband said what a good deal he got with Firestone. You can bet that I texted them right away to take back our recommendation. I did sent out a few Tweets to @FirestoneAuto last night but so far I haven’t gotten a response.

Friday evening I went into the kitchen and noticed there was a fly in the window. I walked over to kill it and realized there were about 20 house flies in the window. What the hell?? It was very Amittyville Horrorish! They were in two windows, thank goodness thing 2 had that electric bug zapper because I fried those bastards! Apparently they must have hatched somewhere outside because they were also in a neighbors window. Luckily they’ve all died or been electrocuted now.
It’s mid July now. Did you know that? That means summer is almost over. What the hell? I haven’t even done anything yet!
The other night I took my sleeping pill, ambien, which normally knocks me out but that night I was up until 2am. What the hell?? If that stops working what is the next step….house tranquilizers?? I kinda blame M. Night Shamalan though, since I did start watching Signs at 11….

Elle – good to know that Firestone doesn’t honor their rebates…I’ll have to let the hubby know since he’s shopping around for tires for my Santa Fe (he actually had new tires ordered from Sears a couple of days before we left on our trip, but the morning we were scheduled to take it in to have them put on, we were told they were sold to another customer and were out of stock…they then tried to up sell us on more expensive tires but we decided they’d make it to Washington State and back again (ok, the Hubby thought that, glad this time he was right)). Now we still need to get new tires for it (even more so now, after putting 6000+ miles on the old ones).
Hope Firestone gets it all sorted out and gives you your rebate!
Stacy – ewwwww! I hate it when flies invade the house (especially if there’s more than one!) Is your window electrified? That would be cool to electrocute flies or bees that wander in and hover at the window…
Thank you for posting your experience.
We do honor our rebates, warranties and provide guarantees on all our services in our company-owned locations to ensure that we have happy and loyal customers.
I replied to your tweet this morning asking you to send me an email at social@bfrc.com so that I can get some additional information from you via email as that is more secure than tweeting personal information.
When you send me an email, please include the address of the store that you and your husband visited so that I can look up your invoice and get the right people involved. The rebate that you were offered was a likely rebate that is from the manufacturer (Firestone) and not from our store. However, as a Firestone Complete Auto Care customer, we will get involved and work with the folks who fulfill the rebate to see what needs to be done to receive your $70 rebate.
I apologize for the inconvenience and for causing you to tweet us and post on your blog about your experience. Hopefully we can resolve this quickly.
Steve
Been there. Had that experience, only I had it with T Mobile. Buy this phone, send in the receipt original and you’ll get a $100 gift card! Woohoo!
No, not really. They will claim they never got your mail in rebate form or receipt, in fact they aren’t even sure you’re a customer.
Same thing with Comc@st too.
Money stealers the lot of them!
