Aloha Friday
Friday is the day that Hawaiians take it easy and get ready for the weekend. So in that spirit we’re asking a simple question. Head on over to An Island Life for more Aloha Friday fun and to sign Mr. Linky if you’re playing. The question we are asking today is…..
Do your kids play any sports, if so, which one’s and do you worry that
they’re going to get hurt?

Our youngest plays football, and this is his second year. Last year he hardly played at all, and when he was on the field he really wouldn’t tackle anyone. I barely had to wash his uniform, it was never dirty! Tonight was his first scrimmage of the year and he got to carry the ball. The one thing he wanted to do this year, of course when he got the ball he got tackled by the neck. He went down hard and started crying. I was at the point of crying, and really wanted to run onto the field to comfort him. Of course I couldn’t because that would embarrass the hell out of him and probably my husband too! My husband did go check on him on the sideline, but I couldn’t wait anymore, so I went and checked on him too. He wasn’t really hurt, more scared than anything, and I think I was more upset than he was. As much as I am proud of him, I’m also worried about him playing!

Fortunately, J-Man isn’t interested in football. I’m pretty sure, except for the whole brain rotting aspect, he’s not going to get hurt playing video games. He does like to swim and run around outside, but nobody tackles him. Sissy loves swimming and running. One time we were at the beach and she just found her inner Forest Gump and took off running down the beach. She ran and ran until I could barely see her never mind keep up with her. Finally she turned around and ran back. Our 20 year old took horseback riding lessons for years and that made me nervous, especially when she was jumping. Our oldest daughter used to play softball, which didn’t involve any tackling, but lots of jumping around in the outfield and making dandelion necklaces..
