You Ate What? aka Random Tuesday Thoughts

Stacy

If it’s Tuesday this must be Random Tuesday Thoughts. It used to be brought to you by Keely at The Un-Mom but she’s taking a hiatus. Okay, it’s been a really long hiatus but Random Tuesdays still rock on with help from Stacy .

We had a whirlwind trip to Massachusetts to visit family and basically eat every food that we can’t get here. We arrived at my parent’s house around 2am and slept in on Saturday. Then the eating began.

Sat Lunch: Lobster rolls

Then we met Stacy and her boys at Hampton Beach.

I still can’t believe it was over 80 degrees at the beach on October 8th.

Saturday Dinner: Fisherman’s platter

We went with my parents and met my brother and his girlfriend there.

On the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen

Sunday Breakfast: Carrot Cake from Alden Merrill

Sunday afternoon we went to the Topsfield Fair

After going through the Poultry Barn,

Sissy said “I want chicken nuggets.”

We found some chicken for Sissy

and lots of other fair food for the rest of us.

We did buy a pound of fudge

and even have some left.

On the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen

This is a giant Bee’s nest that was right in front of our parking spot.

Sissy said “When I’m married I’ll have my husband take care of stuff like that.”

“I’ll hide in the house while he hits it with a baseball bat.”

I sincerely hope she marries someone smart enough not to hit a hornet’s nest with a baseball bat.

We didn’t really need dinner so we just got some Crab Rangoons.

Monday was our drive home.

We stopped at a rest area on the Mass Pike

Just to get some Pizza from Papa Gino’s

We also brought home a cooler full of marinated steak tips.

Apparently, the grocery stores & restaurants in NY have never heard of steak tips.

It’s crazy.

Good thing we were only there for a couple days!

Wow, reading Elle’s Random Thoughts has made me really, really hungry!  Although I don’t like mayo with my lobstah, just buttah.

I woke up today and realized that I’m getting sick.  Wonderful.  The thing is, I always get sick at this time of year, even when I was little.  It’s become known as the “Birthday Curse.”  See, every year right around my birthday I get sick.  And it’s not always just a little cold, it sometimes turns into pneumonia, or the plague stomach bug from hell, or something like that.  Considering about 90% of the people at work are sick with something right now, who knows what this will turn into!

You know when you think of something, or say it out loud and then it happens?  Like just yesterday morning I was thinking how Bruno (the dopey dog) hadn’t peed on the floor in quite some time, and then guess what, he peed that night and this morning!!!  I didn’t even say it out loud, I just thought it.  Apparently that was enough.

Ever notice how when a car alarm goes off or a fire alarm, you really don’t pay attention to it?  I mean if I’m in a parking lot and an alarm goes off my first thought is, “oh I hope that’s not my car” and the second is, “omg, I wish someone would shut off that damn alarm”.  It’s never, “hmmmm, I wonder if someone is stealing a car.”  Today the alarm went off at work, and it’s LOUD, like ear piercing loud.  And you know what we all did…..sit there.  And we were all thinking, “hmmmm, I wonder who set it off and I hope it gets shut off soon.”  Not, “gee I wonder if there is an emergency or if we should leave the building.”  Nope, just sat there working with the ear piercing noise going on.
