Summer to Remember Week 1

I’m trying to squeeze in as much family fun as I can this summer. I feel like we let last summer go by without truly enjoying it. With the kids getting older I’m trying to create memories that will last. Every Sunday I’ll post all the fun family activities we did over the week and it will be my blogging journal of our summer. Join me if you like. Make it a Summer to Remember!

Sunday was Sissy’s 15th birthday! I can’t believe our youngest daughter is so grown-up! The time is flying by. She had her “kids” party the week before so Sunday was just family. Because my birthday is 2 days before Sissy’s we always celebrate by going to Red Robin. It’s our favorite family restaurant that has something for everyone. We both got our free birthday burgers and ice cream sundaes!

I’ve been wanting to get some comfortable seating for our patio forever! My husband has been resisting because of the sparrows that nest in the roof of the patio. He insists that they’ll ruin the furniture by pooping all over it and that he’ll screen it in someday and then we can get furniture. Finally he gave in and gave me a pretty red indoor/outdoor carpet for the patio for my birthday and we found some relatively inexpensive furniture at the Christmas Tree Shop. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but once I sat in the chair and put my feet up on the ottoman, I was sold! I’m thrilled with it.

On the 4th of July Sissy and I got up early and headed downtown for the parade. We hitched a ride to the spot the crew from Lollypop Farm was setting up.

This is Chimichanga. He was one of the stars of the parade.

This little cutie is Zoe. She spent most of the parade sitting on my lap looking out the window of the Lollypop Farm van causing lots of little girls to say “AWWWW” when they saw her.

I’m happy to report Zoe was adopted as soon as we opened on Friday! She was such a sweetie.

Sissy had fun marching in the parade and handing out dog treats to the dogs in the crowd. I was more than happy riding in the van, holding Zoe, and throwing candy to the kids. We managed to locate J-Man in the crowd and made sure he got plenty of candy. Before the parade was over, it started pouring. The people watching the parade didn’t let it dampen their spirits. I especially loved the 2 little girls all decked out in red, white, and blue hula hooping in their front yard in the rain.

We came home, dried off and headed to see Despicable Me 2.

If you are looking for a fun family movie don’t miss it. I loved it just as much or more than the original.

Saturday night it was date night so we headed to Chili’s. I am addicted to their chips and salsa!

I’d love to hear what you did for your summer fun this past week. Link up and join us to make this a Summer to Remember!
