J-Man missed the bus this morning. The second time this week. Or maybe the third. I don’t remember.<\/p>\n

The first thing he said was “I don’t want to go to school today.” He was very sure of that. We talked about it and he decided that he needed to go to school since he had a big test to take.<\/p>\n

Our chance of catching the school bus was getting slimmer and slimmer. He was pokey and a little grumpy.<\/p>\n

The bus came and went and I had to drive him to school. I tried to talk to him on the drive, but he would only answer yes and no. I began to worry something was wrong. He had been quiet this week and maybe something was bothering him. I began to imagine what could be wrong. Maybe it was something at school, maybe he was worried about me going away at the end of the month, or maybe he didn’t like me working so much. I just knew something wasn’t right.<\/p>\n

We pulled into the school parking lot, my mind filled with questions and wondering how I would find out what was wrong, when he said “Twenty-nine buses. I counted twenty-nine buses on my way to school.”<\/p>\n

So nothing is wrong, just my imagination. Why I didn’t remember this is my serious little boy, my deep thinker, I don’t know. He was just counting buses.<\/p>\n
