Aloha Friday~Ghostly Encounters

Friday is the day that Hawaiians take it easy and get ready for the weekend. So in that spirit we’re asking a simple question. Head on over to An Island Lifefor more Aloha Friday fun and to sign Mr. Linky if you’re playing.

I personally have never had a Ghostly Encounter.  I do like to watch Ghosthunters on SyFy (formally known as SciFi).  The thing with that show is the people on it always tell the ghosts to make a noise so they know they are there, and every time they make a noise the people say, “did you make that noise?  can you make that noise again so we know it was you?”  I’m thinking the ghosts are probably thinking, “Hey, I made the stinking noise, if you’re too stupid to realize it, it’s not my fault, I’m dead, leave me alone!”

I have to say I really don’t believe in ghosts. But…..not long after we bought our house and moved in, strange things would happen. I would be alone in a room and see something out of the corner of my eye, like someone was there and when I would look, nothing would be there. Okay, no big deal. We kind of joked about it. The house is over 50 years old and we were the second owners. It was built by the original owners and they hadn’t changed a thing since they bought it. The drawers in the kitchen were lined with newspapers from the 1950’s. It was odd. One summer day I looked out my kitchen window and the glass on our patio table had broken into  millions of pieces. Now I know that can happen, the table was old, once again, no big deal. Then a few weeks later I was in the living room cleaning off the fireplace mantel. I walked away then I heard a noise that sounded like glass breaking. It was a big chunky glass candle holder that had been on the mantel. It had exploded into a bunch of pieces. Nobody else was home and it had never been used. Sooooooo, even though I don’t believe in ghosts I said “This is our house now and we aren’t leaving so get used to it or get out.” You know, just in case, I was covering all my bases. I felt pretty foolish, but there hasn’t been any more incidents of exploding glass or seeing something out of the corner of my eye.

So the question is, Do you believe in ghosts and have you ever had a ghostly encounter?
