Another ER Story

Another ER Story

Yes, here it is, another story about a trip to the ER.  This time it’s me and not Elle.  I know, weird huh?  Let me start at the beginning.  If you don’t know, I have a hernia and I’m having surgery to repair it on…

What The Hell Wednesday~Too Many Doctor Visits!

Wednesdays are great for Wordless and Wordful posts, but we decided to go a different route and create our own Wednesday fun. We figured what the hell. That’s how we started What The Hell Wednesday. Who are we kidding? That’s pretty much how we decide…

Really? Really? Aaargh!

Really? Really? Aaargh!

By now everyone is probably pretty bored with all my stupid health problems because I know I am. I am just so utterly sick and tired of all of this. If you’re not completely sick of the whole drama that is my life lately read on.

Yesterday was my much awaited appointment with the PPS (pelvic pain specialist). After a very comprehensive exam that left me feeling like I’d been abducted by aliens and probed she said “I’m stumped and this is what I do.” Really, just what you want to hear from the PPS. So she left me sitting there in the exam room forever until she could come back with the Supreme PPS . In just a few minutes he decided I have a hernia. Really? Really? A hernia? Ummmmm…..no. He said that the giant bruise I still have from my blood thinner injections was obscuring the area and they couldn’t tell what was going on but he thought it was a hernia from my laparoscopy in November. Ya, a hernia that gets worse when I have my period. Ooookaaaay. He left and when she came back in I told her that  it wasn’t a hernia but the Cat scan would be good to rule it out (I even managed to say that without tooooo much sarcasm). Her explanation was “Well, inside pain is different than outside pain. When your insides have pain from one thing and then something else happens your body recognizes it as the same pain as before even though it’s different. Does that help?” Huh? Then she asked if I remembered which side had the larger incision. Of course it’s the opposite side.  Then she said “It is unusual for a hernia to be on the smaller incision.” I told her in the meantime I was in pain and I needed some more pain meds. Without blinking an eye she gave me a prescription for a scary amount of pain meds with a refill. OMG! Really, a crazy amount. I’m nowhere near to taking the amount she allowed per day (12!) but with the blood thinners I can’t even take Advil, so to take care of the pain and not just curl up in bed all day, I have to take some every single day. I know that there is something wrong in there, just like last time, but it will be at least 6 months before they can do surgery and prove me right.
