Random Tuesday Thoughts
If it’s Tuesday this must be Random Tuesday Thoughts. It used to be brought to you by Keely at The Un-Mom but she’s taking a hiatus. Okay, it’s been a really long hiatus but Random Tuesdays still rock on with help from Stacy .

I’m really sad that summer is over. Although I like fall, and the beautiful foliage, it also means winter and freezing cold weather is just around the corner. The older I get the more I wish I lived in a warmer state. Two months of really nice weather every year is not enough. That must be why old people go to Florida, they’ve just had enough of the cold.
I found out today that my son is becoming a smart, responsible teenager. I guess it validates your parenting skills when they are put in a situation where they need to make a good decision. Today my oldest was going to go to his new girfriends house. He told me today where she lived. Not to be all “judgy”and stuff, but the neighboorhood she lives in is not a neighborhood I would ever want my kids hanging out in. I reluctantly dropped him off, even though I wasn’t pleased at all. Within an hour and a half he called me to pick him up. Without asking any questions I did. In the car he told me how the kids were smoking, playing with fire, and one kid even told him that he knew where they could get some “weed”. Instead of staying there and pretending to be “cool” with them, he told them he was walking to the store, and then he called me. He was really upset and couldn’t believe the things the kids were doing. I was very proud of him for making the right choice.
Buying school supplies for 2 kids in middle school is very expensive. So far it’s cost $81.00, and Thing 2 just brought home another list asking for 3 binders, yeah that’s okay, I’ll shell out another $20 or so. Thanks….
Yesterday I brought the boys to the beach, and on the way home Thing 2 is in the back seat holding a bucket of water containing 2 starfish, and a bunch of snails. Now of course I have a cup of 2 dead starfish, and a bunch of snails! There’s always a cup of something dead sitting around. This spring he caught like 200 tadpoles, the next day, dead. This summer he caught a bunch of frogs, and a snake. All would sit in a tank on the table. At least the frogs and snake he let go before they died.

Today is the last day of summer vacation for my kids. I am soooo not ready for all the rushed mornings, the papers that need to be signed and the homework. This morning I thought about it and realized that our oldest daughter started kindergarten in 1989 and our youngest son will graduate in 2020. I’ve been doing this since the last century! By the time J-Man graduates, I will have been doing the whole school thing for 31 years! Yes, you read that right, 31 loooooooong years! I guess that’s what happens when you have another baby when your oldest starts college.
I planned on sending J-Man to school in shorts tomorrow. We usually are still having hot summerlike weather for the first couple weeks of school, but right now they are predicting it to be cool and rainy. He has outgrown all of his pants from last year and I only bought a few pairs of new shorts and short sleeve shirts. Of course! So now I’m thinking I need to run out after work to get him pants. We’ll see. It’s not like it’s going to be that cold.
Right now both kids are on my bed playing the Pac-Man app. Remember when you actually had to go to an arcade to play it?
Which makes me realize that I wish I had a real Skee-Ball game in my basement. I guess we’d need at least two or there would be constant fighting. Ooh! Look! I can get one!
Don’t forget to join us for What The Hell Wednesday tomorrow! Seriously, what the hell are you waiting for?
