They Said It Couldn't Be Done

My name is Elle and I hate crafts. I really, really hate them. I’ve never knitted, scrap booked, decoupaged, stamped, painted pottery or made crocheted hats out of beer cans. Swear to God! I find nothing soothing in any of these activities. I know lots of people love crafts and that’s great for them but not me. Now you’d think that a craft hater would buy their children’s Halloween costumes, but you’d be wrong. No I punish myself every stinking year by making their costumes. Since I have children ranging in age from 24 to 6, it’s not something new. I’ve been making 1 to 3 Halloween costumes every year for 24 years. Not only do I make them, I wait until the last possible day to even start. Why do I do it? For the kids? No, because I’m insane! This year my costume nemesis was Yoshi from the Mario games.  Now J-Man loves Yoshi, he has 3 stuffed toy Yoshis and is a Yoshi expert. Last night was the big Halloween Parade in town so all costumes had to be done by 5:30 last night to give us enough time to get to the parade. I did it. I’m sitting here typing with hot glue gun burned fingers, but I did it. I have one thrilled little boy who had a blast at the parade and put his costume back on this morning as soon as he got up. I guess it’s worth it, but it’s sheer hell for me getting there.
