Christmas Traditions When You're Craft Challenged
The one thing we could count on every single Christmas growing up was The Christmas Calendar. Mom would make us calendars every year and hang them on the fridge. Then every day we would put a sticker on until we got to Christmas Day. We loved these calendars and looked forward to them every December 1. What we thought was a fun Christmas tradition was really a clever plot by our mother to keep us from constantly asking “How many more days until Christmas?” over and over again and driving her crazy. So we’ve continued this plot tradition with our own children. Now this isn’t so easy when you’re craft impaired and having a couple of artistic daughters really doesn’t help when I’ve barely mastered stick figures. Last night I grabbed my pencil and markers and made my calendars. I found out this morning that Stacy was on the phone with Mom last night at 11:30 when she realized she needed her calendars for the morning. She couldn’t go to bed until she’d finished them. At least I had mine done by 9:30. I’m just saying..
So here are the 3 that I made. This one is for our 19 year old. Yes, 19, she still puts her sticker on most mornings afternoons and would be very upset if she didn’t have one. She’ll be getting a calendar until she moves out. I put Mickey Mouse hats on her snowman and penguins because in January she’ll be going to Disney World for an internship.
The next calendar is Sissy’s.
And the last one belongs to J-Man. I managed to draw a couple of Yoshi’s on there for him. I guess I did an okay job because he told me I put the right color shoes on the red Yoshi. Phew! Although, he did comment on the lack of a hat on his snowman.
Here are Stacy’s calendars she put up for her 2 boys. Remember it was 11:30..I’m just saying:)
