Homework Hassles

It’s only September and already I’m tired of the homework meltdowns. By the time I get home and get dinner on the table for everyone, we are lucky to start homework by 7 pm. Bedtime is supposed to be 8pm. Really doesn’t leave us a lot of time to get everything done and I hate always being the one to rush and push them. It’s rush, rush, rush in the morning or you’ll miss the bus. Then it’s let’s hurry up and eat so you can get your homework done so you can go to bed. Seriously not fun.

Last night as I was sitting there helping J-Man stay on task I realized somebody was missing, My husband was in the bedroom on the computer. I’m sure he was looking up information on what to do about the leak in the roof, which I pointed out to him last week. I saw a stain on the ceiling and I said “Looks like we have a leak in the roof.” He said “No we don’t it’s just a stain that looks like a pawprint.” Now I know our pets can be weird but I really can’t imagine any of them walking on the ceiling and that would be one hell of a big spider. But, okay, what do I know. Last night it was pouring and then he noticed the paw print shaped stain was bigger and wetter. “Crap, we have a leak in the roof!” Really? I had no idea.

Oh ya, back to the homework issue. I said to my husband, “How about we switch off nights to help J-Man with his homework.” I got a yes and we have a tentative schedule. Tonight is his night and J-Man has a writing assignment due for spelling tomorrow. He’s been saving it for last because he hates writing. Should be a fun night. But I’ll be busy catching up on blogging housework.
