“My Disney Experience” at Walt Disney World
This morning the Disney Parks Blog announced a new and exciting enhancement for visitors to Walt Disney World, called MyMagic+. According to the Disney Parks Blog, it’s purpose to is to “give guests more opportunities to customize and personalize their entire visit.”
Everything ties together with a new Disney website “My Disney Experience” and a mobile app of the same name. I was able to download the app from iTunes and poke around. It’s appears to be very similar to the Mobile Magic app that we used for our most recent trip to WDW in May. That app was a great resource for us during our trip. We were able to see which attraction had the shortest wait and could plan accordingly. It looks like the new “My Disney Experience” app will be even more beneficial.
I like having all the park times right at my fingertips.
There are maps for all of the parks
You can’t see the actual wait times for the different attractions unless you are inside Walt Disney World. I don’t think I can persuade my husband I need to go to WDW right away to test the new My Disney Experience app. I would if I could, you know, just to test it out for you all.
You can sign into the app with the same username and password you use for any of the other Disney sites. It looks like that is the way the the app will be linked and work with the new My Disney Experience site, making it easier to plan at home and bring it with you. I’m a big planner when it comes to our Disney trips and it would be wonderful to have all those plans right there on my iPhone. You will be able to book your dining reservations and reserve times for attractions and shows through a new FastPass system, FastPass+. Once you are in the parks you will be able to use your smart phone to keep track of your plans or if you’re more spontaneous, change them at a moment’s notice.
An integral part of the MyMagic+ experience is a new technologically advanced wristband called the MagicBand. It is designed to be your park ticket, FastPass+ selections, room key, PhotoPass card and you can even add in an optional payment account. It will be interesting to hear guest’s reactions once it’s completely rolled out.
Although, I like to have a plan for each day at the parks, we try to be as spontaneous as we can so we aren’t rushing from one reservation to another. I do have some questions about the new system, hoping it does leave room for spontaneity. Will the current FastPass system still be in use for guests who aren’t staying at the resorts or for people who may not have all the latest technology? I’m sure these are questions that Disney has already thought of and figured out the answers to. I’m looking forward to seeing this new technology in person and trying it out!
How about you? What are your thoughts?
