That was the question of the day on Friday. Let me give you a little back story first. My DH (Dear Husband, but my husband likes to refer to it as “Designated Husband”) and I have been Facebooking lately. We’re both new to it, but are having fun with it. Well, my friend Wendy “friended” my husband and they began virtually throwing things at eachother. If you are familiar with F.B. then you know about annoying your friends and throwing stuff at them. Well the other day my DH threw a “shuttlecock” at Wendy. Apparently Wendy did not know what a “shuttlecock” was. And of course in her mind it was something dirty. She wrote on my husband’s wall (Facebook term), “What exactly is a shuttlecock and why are you throwing it at me?” Since I stalk “friended” my husband on there I can see what people write on his wall. (like I said, good way to stalk) So, I wrote on her wall, “do you seriously NOT know what a shuttlecock is?” “let me give you a hint, DH and I love to play this game in the summer and we use a shuttlecock.” To which she replied, “yea, I don’t need to know what you do in your backyard. It’s all fun and games until someone gets a shuttlecock in the eye.” I don’t know who came up with this name, and personally I don’t know anyone who actually uses this term. But everyone seems to know what it is. Everyone that is, except Wendy. I asked everyone at work if they knew what it was, and yes, they all did. Poor Wendy, thinking my husband is a freak and is throwing dirty things at her. It was fun to tease her, which I did, all day Friday, part of Saturday, and of course today too. I admit it’s a funny word, and even funnier when someone doesn’t know what it is. So in case you are wondering, here is a picture of a “shuttlecock”…..
I would call this a “birdie“, but like it says on the package it is definitely a “shuttlecock“. (I can’t wait to see the google searches we get with this one!!!)
