Christmas Calendars, Cats & Creepy Carl Randomness
I can’t believe how close we are to Christmas. Last night I finally finished the Christmas Calendars for the kids. It’s funny how important these calendars are. I think my mom started these calendars when we were little so we’d stop bugging her by constantly asking her how many days left until Christmas. They became something we looked forward to every year. We would agonize over which sticker to put on each day and then count how many days were left.
Last week the kids reminded me several times that I needed to get busy making their calendars. I was a day late, finally getting them done last night, but it didn’t matter. J-Man looked them over and knew immediately which one was his.
It’s a little hard to tell, but those red and green guys are supposed to be Yoshis and of course, a Yoshi snowman. He told me they looked great and that I was an amazing artist. He must really love me because amazing artist I’m not!
J-Man helped me hang them up on the fridge and he was the first one to put his stickers on. He jumped around the kitchen with a big grin on his face. “Now it feels like Christmas!”
The calendars have turned into a Christmas tradition that’s as important as our Christmas Tree and reading The Grinch and The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve. J-Man’s right, it really doesn’t feel like Christmas until the calendars are up.
Besides making calendars I tried to pull out a few decorations from the basement. I brought up the front door wreath and put it on the dining room table for a few minutes. I should have known better at this house than to leave something for a few minutes. George quickly decided that the wreath made a comfy bed.
I did convince him to get off the wreath so I could hang it up. I’m mean like that.
Another Christmas tradition is underway at our house. The return of Carl the Creepy Christmas Monkey. No wimpy Elf on the Shelf at our house. Who knows what kind of mischief Creepy Carl will get into this year.
If it’s Tuesday this must be Random Tuesday Thoughts. Stop by, say hi, and see what the Queen of Randomness, Stacy, is up to.
